Indie Takes the Lead

I recently discovered indie band Deerhunter, when I heard "He Would Have Laughed," off their album Halcyon Digest. There's something about their melodies that's reminscent of bands like the Beatles, with a modern, heavier, Arcade Fire feel. After doing my ritual iTunes browsing of the album, I heard "Helicopter," and knew I had found a favorite.

And while we're on the subject of indie bands, Fleet Foxes come to mind with "White Winter Hymnal." The music video reminds me of those Christmas claymation specials they used to air when I was on TV, and the song is magical.
